The Ferrari Challenge Is Back In Monza

Monza – Three weeks after the day of testing at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza to gain confidence with their F430s after the long winter break, the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli participants are back on the circuit in NorthernItaly for a free practice session and the qualifyings for the grid of tomorrow’s first race of the season.

At the end of the timed laps the fastest drivers in the Italian series of the Trofeo Pirelli’s main category were – in the first part of the qualifying – Giorgio Sernagiotto and Lorenzo Casé (Motor Piacenza), followed by Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa), who gained the pole position in the second qualifying, ahead of Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena) from San Marino and Giorgio Sernagiotto. Amongst the gentlemen drivers from the Coppa Shell Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli) will start into race one ahead of Giuseppe Fascicolo and Giovanni Cappelletti (Rossocorsa/Pellin), while in race 2 Gianluca Carboni (Rossocorsa/Pellin) will start in front of Sergio Rota (Rossocorsa/Rota) and Massimo Mantovani.

In the two qualifying sessions held for the single-marques European series the first and the third fastest times were driven in the Trofeo Pirelli by the Austrian Philipp Baron (Baron Service) and the Czech driver Robert Pergl (Scuderia Praha), while the F430 with Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli) will start between them in race 1 and the German Bjorn Grossmann (Autohaus Gohm) will sit between them on the grid for race 2. The fastest driver in both sessions for the Coppa Shell was Oliver Morley (Motor Malucelli): the British driver will start into race 1 ahead of Wido Roessler (Baron Service) of Germany and the Swiss Daniel Waechter (Kessel), while in race 2 he will start in front of Frank Gelf (Eberlein Kassel) and Wido Roessler.

The two races of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli’s Italian series will be shown on Sunday on Sky Sport 2 at 9:30 (race 1) and 2pm (race 2). On Monday 29 March at 7:30am Sky Sport 2 and at 5pm Sky Sport Extra will repeat race 1, followed on Wednesday 31 March at 3:30pm on Sky Sport 2; the second race will be repeated on Monday 29 March at 8:30am on Sky Sport 2 and at 6pm on Sky Sport Extra and on Friday 2 April at 3:30pm on Sky Sport 2.
