The 5.0 Is Back! 2011 Ford Mustang GT Brings Back 5.0 Liter V8

By Auto News Log • December 28th, 2009

Ford has officially announced the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0-liter V8, which is powered by a bigger engine, placing it on equal footing with the Camaro SS or the Hemi Challenger.

The new 5.0-liter Mustang will generate 412 HP with 390 lb-ft of torque. Actual performance figures are not yet available, but it’s safe to say that it will be a street burner. The new Mustang 5.0 will also boast 32-valves and Timed Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), which coupled with the EPAS (Ford’s own power steering), and the new six-speed automatic transmission, will generate a highway mileage of 25 mpg, while the city number will be 17. The manual will be getting 24 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city.

Ford will be releasing complete details at the fast approaching Detroit Auto Show next month.
