Scott Buck Named Mopar® ‘Top Eliminator’ Winner at Carlisle Chrysler Nationals
Scott Buck of East Greeneville, Pa., and his 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee were named the Mopar® “Top Eliminator” winner at the 2010 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, Pa. on Sunday, July 11.
Buck was recognized during the Chryslers at Carlisle trophy ceremony, which wrapped up another successful year for the show. The 2010 edition of the Mopar enthusiast event boasted a record car count, with a mix of classic Mopar muscle cars and popular current models coming together to create a Mopar lover’s dream on the Carlisle show field.
Buck found his Super Bee 10 years ago and spent several years on the restoration, along with the help of a number of friends, including his co-builder, John Henning, from Macungie, Pa. The completed vehicle is filled with Mopar parts, including a Mopar Performance cam, valve covers and intake manifold. Buck’s car is one of six Mopar “Top Eliminator” winners that will be displayed in the Mopar Alley at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November.
“Mopar is performance,” said Buck. “I’m proud to be the winner of the Mopar ‘Top Eliminator’ award here at Carlisle. There are thousands of beautiful cars here, and I feel lucky to be picked. I can’t wait to go to SEMA. This is why we do this. It gives us goosebumps.”
Fans packed the Mopar Direction Connection trailer in the Manufacturers Midway, checking out the Mopar parts and vehicles on display and competing in the Mopar Virtual Drag Racer competition. Famed Mopar-powered drag racing legends the Ramchargers also took part in two autograph sessions at the Mopar Direct Connection rig.
Mopar’s Brian Falzon treated attendees to a walk around of the Mopar Direct Connection Test Lab vehicle at the Carlisle pavilion, detailing the genesis of the parts development “mule.” Falzon hopped in the driver’s seat and completed the first-ever burnout in the recently revealed vehicle—to the cheers of the crowd.
