Reginald Kelley Named Mopar “Top Eliminator” Winner at Woodward Dream Cruise
Reginald Kelley of Shelby Township, Mich. and his 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T convertible were named the final Mopar “Top Eliminator” winner of 2011 by a panel of Mopar representatives on Saturday, Aug. 20 during the 17th annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak, Mich.
The Mopar “Top Eliminator” program, now in its fifth year, challenges the “best of the best” to produce incredible Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles. Kelley spent nearly two years on the restoration of his Challenger and utilized many Mopar original parts including: a Mopar 472-HEMI® Crate engine, Mopar torsion bars, a Mopar battery and a Mopar carburetor.
Kelley will have his car exhibited in the Mopar display at the 2011 SEMA show in Las Vegas in November, along with the first 2011 “Top Eliminator” winner, Martin Wimberly, who was chosen at the Mopars in the Park car show in Farmington, Minn., for his 1971 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda, and the second “Top Eliminator,” Bob Villiger of Mountain Home, Ark., who was chosen during the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, Pa. for his 1969 Dodge Coronet 440.
“I’m thrilled to be named the Mopar Top Eliminator,” said Kelley. “It’s still really kind of sinking in. It’s not just me, though, I had a lot of help on this car and this honor will be shared by all of us. I’ve never been to SEMA, so I’m very excited to go and I know we’ll have a great time.”
All Chrysler Group LLC brands had a major presence at the Woodward Dream Cruise, with Chrysler Group’s customary display location at 13 Mile and Woodward in Royal Oak. The Mopar Direct Connection and Mopar Image Center displays were popular attractions among Cruise goers. Fans were able to win Mopar Pride Paks by taking part in the Mopar Trivia Challenge, along with meeting and receiving autographs from the famed Ramchargers.
Mopar display cars included: the “Moparized” Chrysler 200S concept, Mopar ’11 Charger, Mopar ’10 Challenger, 2011 V-10 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak, JK-8 Independence, Jeep Wrangler Pork Chop and the Jeep Wrangler Blue Crush.
