NHRA: Torrence to Return to Top Fuel Competition in Tuttle’s Dragster

By Auto News Log • February 3rd, 2011

Top Fuel driver Steve Torrence, who finished eighth in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Top Fuel standings last season, will reunite with team owner Dexter Tuttle for a 2011 campaign.

“I am fortunate to again be working with Dexter and his team,” said Torrence, who will be back at the controls of the Capco Construction/Tuttle Racing dragster. “He’s the only Top Fuel owner I’ve ever had.”

Last year, in his first full season on the circuit, Torrence was the only newcomer to earn a coveted position in the 10-driver Countdown to the Championship playoffs. He was ninth entering the six-race showdown and improved to an eighth-place finish.

“It’s exciting to be getting ready for another season,” said Tuttle. “I’m looking forward to it. We definitely want to improve our performance in 2011.

“We are also creating a marketing plan to complement what we are currently doing to attract business partners, and we will continue our discussions with major companies as we look to 2012 and beyond.”

“I can’t wait to get to Pomona and get this new season started,” Torrence said. “Last year’s goal was to qualify for the Countdown. This year, we want to win races and finish in the top five.”
