Mopar-Powered Dodge Funny Cars Exit Early At Vegas

By Auto News Log • April 21st, 2010

The Mopar HEMI-powered NHRA Funny Car foursome of Ron Capps, Matt Hagan, Jack Beckman and Melanie Troxel were dealt early round exits at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, April 18.

Capps fell first in a HEMI vs. HEMI first-round fight with his Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) teammate Beckman, losing traction early in his Dodge Charger R/T. Beckman fell to Tony Pedregon in the quarterfinals. DSR driver Matt Hagan, the No. 3 qualifier, bested Jeff Arend but couldn’t get past Funny Car legend John Force in the second round. Troxel experienced the most exciting day of the bunch, driving her Dodge Charger to a first round win over Bob Tasca by a mere 19 inches. Troxel then lost to Del Worsham in the quarterfinals.

Next up is the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals in Madison, Ill., April 30–May 2.
