L.A. Auto Show: Audi A3 TDI is Green Car of the Year

By Auto News Log • December 5th, 2009

LOS ANGELES • The diesel revolution has begun in the United States — at least in California. And it’s the German automakers who seem to be taking over the environmentally friendly reigns from the Japanese automakers, as a German diesel-powered car has won Green Car of the Year for the second year in a row.

The 2010 Audi A3 TDI picked up the green car honours today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, beating out finalists including the Toyota Prius, Honda Insight Hybrid, Mercury Milan Hybrid and the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, which won the award last year.

Audi’s A3 TDI features a 140-horsepower 2.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged diesel engine.
