Jordan Is Preparing To Host The “Red Bull Car Park Drift” Regional Finals

Pentagonal jury to determine the identity of the Middle East King Of Drift

Preparations began in Jordan for the “Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals”, which will top a new season of the most thrilling and powerful drifts that roamed around the Middle East since the beginning of the year. In the coming days, 12 drivers representing eight Arab countries will head to the Dead Sea where the challenge’s level will reach its peak on Friday October 19th as of 5pm, leading up to the announcement of the new Regional King Of Drift.

The technical aspects of the regional competition, sponsored by Chevrolet, are supervised by Red Bull athlete and Rally Champion Abdo Feghali who will work on the special design of the track that will push the drivers to perform the most exciting drift shows. There will be particular criteria to judge the participants’ performances, notably art of drift, along with other factors including the appearance of the car, the roar of the engine, the friction of tires smoke and of course the audience acclaim.

“We are thrilled to bring the Red Bull Car Park Drift Finals to Jordan”, said Alberto Chahoud, Regional Communications Manager for Red Bull. “The best drifters in the region will showcase unprecedented levels of drifting that will quench spectators’ thirst for motorsports action.” Chahoud thanked the local authorities for their contribution and the various sponsors, mainly Chevrolet, the regional sponsor of the competition.

Held under the auspices of the Engineer Amir Al Bashir, Deputy of Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein of Jordanian Motorsports, Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals will include 3 drivers from each of KSA and Jordan and 1 driver from each of Kuwait, UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Oman and Bahrain.

Five members will constitute the jury panel which will include: Abdulaziz Turki Al Faisal, known for his love to motor sport. Born on June 4, 1983, he participated in different competitions since 2005 and won lots of races. A comment that sums him up: “I think it’s important to be a good guy, but I’m not above getting a little wild at the same time. If I bend some rules to do the right thing, I’m fine with that.” In addition to cars, AbdulAziz is interested in different sports such as motorbikes, skiing, snowboarding, sailing, kite surfing. He also loves travelling and playing videogames. In 2012, Abdulaziz participated in many competitions and won for the second time PORSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE ME CHAMPIONSHIP.

Among the members of the jury is Mike Whiddett known as “Mad Mike”, for his love for fast and “furious” drifts. He was also member of last year’s jury for “Red Bull Car Park Drift” Regional Finals in Beirut. This New Zealander is known for his excellent ability of controlling his car making his performance simply spectacular. The thirty year old man, practicing drifts since 2006, holds several international titles, including the first place in the overall standings of the Formula D drift in Thailand in 2009.

The feminine face in the jury panel is Sherin Rifai, who made a revolution in the world of fashion in the region and set an example in the Arab community. Being the founder of “U” Magazine, Sherin Rifai succeeded in changing the world of fashion in the Middle East since the creation the magazine in 2007. The success of the U- Jordan led later to the launch of U-Lebanon, of which Rifai is the managing editor. She believes that women have a great role to play in society, and seeks to deliver this message through and outside the magazine.

Among the judges is also Ihab Al Batee from “Jordan Motorsport”, known for his long experience in contributing to the organization of the strongest races and rallies, especially the Jordan International Rally, a round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship. Al Batee is one of the most important competencies in the Jordanian motorsport, after his experience in the management of many national rallies during the last period.
