Johnson Keeps Tennessee High School Students Safe with B.R.A.K.E.S. School

Mopar® Dodge Avenger NHRA Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson did his part to educate teenagers from the Greeneville, Tenn. area on the importance of safe driving by funding a B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) driving school on Saturday, Dec. 4. Johnson transported two busloads of Greeneville, Tenn. high school students and their parents to zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, N.C. and donated $10,000 to stage a free driving school for teenagers from his community.

Johnson and fellow NHRA racer Doug Herbert, who founded B.R.A.K.E.S. after his two young sons lost their lives in an automobile accident, signed up students to participate in the event during presentations and vehicle demonstrations in Greeneville on Nov. 18. The B.R.A.K.E.S. event was a resounding success according to Johnson, a life-long Greeneville resident and a passionate supporter and donor to the B.R.A.K.E.S. cause.

“Everything went well and without a hitch,” said Johnson. “It’s important for these kids to get training behind the wheel and get in these situations that usually they don’t get into until they’re in a car accident. I think that’s what is so important about the B.R.A.K.E.S. schools, that kids are put in these situations and are taught what to do before they are in it for real. The class had great participation and everyone enjoyed it.”
