Hübinette Advances to Second Round at Palm Beach FD Event

By Auto News Log • June 6th, 2011

Fresh off an amazing two-win debut behind the wheel of his Mopar-powered Ram in the Traxxas TORC series, two-time Formula DRIFT (FD) series champion Samuel Hübinette traded the off-road for the drift course in the Round Three FD event at Palm Beach (Fla.) International Raceway on Saturday, June 4. The “Crazy Swede” steered his Mopar-powered Dodge Motorsports Samuel Hübinette Racing (SHR) Dodge Challenger to his first round-win of the season as he advanced to the Top 16 at the Palm Beach event.

After two hard-luck outings in which he failed to qualify due to mechanical issues, Hübinette placed his Mopar Dodge in its first elimination rounds of the year, claiming the No. 16 spot with an overall score from the judges of 79.3. Hübinette would match his No. 77 Dodge Motorsports Dodge Challenger against Ross Petty’s Nissan in a first-round drift showdown, with Hübinette moving on. The 2004 and 2006 FD champ was unable to advance farther in the field, exiting in the round of 16 in a battle with Chris Forsberg.

Next up is the Round Four FD event at Wall (N.J.) Speedway, June 17–18. For more information on the Formula DRIFT series, visit, http://www.formulad.com.
