Chevrolet Camaro Named 2010 Launch Breakthrough Award Winner by Edmunds.com

By Auto News Log • July 12th, 2010

Edmunds.com today named the Chevrolet Camaro as the winner of its first annual Launch Breakthrough Award, based on the analysis of 18 factors including pricing, sales, market share, dealer profit margins, incentives, consumer consideration, consumer ratings, inventory levels and residual values.

The Chevrolet Equinox took third place in Edmund’s first annual ranking. A total of 54 all-new or completely redesigned vehicles were eligible for the 2010 award.

“For Camaro, the Edmunds.com Launch Breakthrough Award is a tribute to the team of engineers and designers who recreated the iconic car,” said Russ Clark, Chevrolet Product Marketing Director. “For Chevrolet, earning two spots on the Edmunds.com top 10 breakout launches demonstrates the strength of our new products across the portfolio.”

Consumer demand continues to make the Camaro and Equinox successful in their segments. Camaro has more than 46,000 sales year-to-date, and currently leads its segment in sales. Equinox has posted increases in year-over-year retail sales for 12 consecutive months.

The Camaro has outsold its primary competitor for 11 of the last 13 months and continues to sell with practically no incentives.

Hopefully GM can make this turn-around a wide-spread thing. It may even speak for a financial shift for GM.
