Beauchamp Wins Pole at Barrie, Scores Third Consecutive Top-Ten Finish

By Auto News Log • September 13th, 2010

Ron Beauchamp Jr. steered his No. 60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge to the pole and a sixth-place finish in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series event at Barrie Speedway near Barrie, Ont., Canada on Saturday night, Sept. 11.

Beauchamp’s Mopar Dodge was nearly perfect during the afternoon practice session and the team made few changes to the set up on the car. During qualifying Beauchamp would circle the one-third-mile oval track in 14.369 seconds to claim the pole position. “That was a really good lap” said Beauchamp. “The team did an awesome job getting the car ready and it was perfect for qualifying.”

The No. 22 car appeared to jump the start of the 300-lap event to take the lead, with Beauchamp settling into the second spot. After a pit stop near the mid-point of the race, Beauchamp struggled with the handling of the car and fell back a few spots. A caution flag allowed the Team Mopar driver to make needed changes and prepare for a dash to the checkers, but Beauchamp was hit and spun around shortly after the restart. The skilled veteran corralled his Mopar Dodge and battled back for his third straight top-ten finish.

“We’re on a good run right now.” said Beauchamp. “I can’t wait to get to these last couple of races and really put on a show.”

Beauchamp is currently seventh in series point standings. He and the No. 60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge Team will travel to eastern Canada and return to action on Sept. 18 at Riverside Speedway near Antigonish, N.S.
