Gaydon – In his maiden GT4 race, Design Director, Marek Reichman and team mate Chief Engineer, Chris Porritt secured a podium finish in this weekend’s Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain race at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

In the penultimate round of the Challenge, Reichman whose only prior racing experience was in historic single seaters started the race and hung on superbly to the leading group before handing over to Chris Porritt in fifth place. Porritt, who has annually competed in the Nürburgring 24 hours with Aston Martin has had much experience of the Vantage GT4 and clawed his way back to third place with an aggressive charge in the 90 minute race.

Reichman, after the race, said: “I really enjoyed my stint; for the first time I could really experience just how well the road going V8 Vantage translates into a competition car, fast, predictable and the Sportshift transmission allows you to keep your concentration on the track.

“The atmosphere has been brilliant, and I’ve enjoyed sharing the experience with the other competitors here. There is a real sense of family around Aston Martin which is encapsulated by the GT4 Challenge.”

Porritt said: “It’s been fun being a part of the Challenge – there are some quick drivers out there and we had to work hard to achieve our third!”

The race was won by father and son team Chris and Ant Scragg – their fifth win of the season, but they were pushed hard as usual by another father and son combination of David and James Appleby.

The final round of the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain takes place on 9 October 2010 at Donington Park.
