All Aston Martin Models Finish Competition on Winners’ Podium

Frankfurt am Main / Stuttgart – Making a successful start to 2011, Aston Martin has repeated last year’s victory in the readers’ vote Best Cars 2011 of the German car magazine auto motor und sport.

The Aston Martin Rapide took first place again in the category Luxury Class Imported as voted for by readers of the renowned automotive magazine. In the categories Sports cars and Convertibles Imported Aston Martin remains popular with the readers with four models featuring amongst the best cars, finishing second and third in both categories. The result sees all current Aston Martins in the competition finish on the winners’ podium.

Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin Chief Executive, said at today‘s award ceremony taking place at the International Congress Center in Stuttgart: „Aston Martin has not only established itself as a successful independent sports car brand, but has also taken a strong position as a luxury manufacturer. This has been underlined by this readers vote.

“We are looking forward with confidence to this year, in which we will extend our model range with diverse products ranging from the new luxury city car; Cygnet to our ultimate sports car, the One-77.”

The Aston Martin Rapide wins in the category Luxury Class Imported with 33.2 per cent of the readers’ vote – far ahead of the second-ranked car which received 16.8 per cent.

With a razor-thin distance to the winner, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage comes second in the category Sports Cars Imported with 13.4 per cent, followed by another Aston Martin, the DB9/DBS winning 11.7 per cent of the vote.

In the category Convertibles Imported the DB9/DBS Volante finishes second with 12 per cent of the readers’ vote and again only tiny distance to the winner. The third rank goes to the V8 Vantage Roadster with 10 per cent of the vote.

More than 92,000 readers of the German car magazine auto motor und sport participated in this year’s Best Cars vote, which took place for the 35th time, choosing from a selection of 315 car models in ten categories.
