1969 Ford Mustang GT 428 Convertible

Ford’s Mustang GT could be had with a wide choice of engines in 1969. Unlike the new Mach 1, the GT package was still available in convertible form, allowing adventurous buyers to enjoy big-block performance with the wind in their hair. The formula is embodied in all its glory in this one-of-a-kind triple-Black GT, one of the rarest GT Mustangs in the world. Only 50 convertibles were built with the Q-code 428 Cobra Jet V-8, 20 of which were 4-speed cars. Of those 20, only 9 were GT-equipped; only 2 were finished in Raven Black, and only this car employed the rare Traction-Lok rear end, in this case with a 3.50 gear set.

That is one very special package, one made even better by a recent professional restoration that has the car in an as-new state, with nothing more than test miles since its completion, and it is spectacular. Gleaming Raven Black paint combines with chromed GT wheels, a GT competition-style gas cap, chromed quad exhaust outlets and a front spoiler for great visual impact, while inside the Black interior features a console, 8,000 RPM tach, woodgrain trim and an AM radio. In addition, the Black manual soft top is accompanied by a matching tonneau cover still packaged in the original container.

Entirely correct and immaculately finished, the matching numbers 428/335 HP Cobra Jet engine is coupled to a close ratio Toploader 4-speed and 3.50 Traction-Lok, and complemented by power steering and the GT’s strong competition suspension.
