By Auto News Log • April 5th, 2012

Mecum Auctions 2012 Spring Classic Spotlight: 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 (Lot S233) – the very last L88 Corvette to roll down the assembly line.

Built on December 4, 1969, this is the last Corvette L88 ever produced. The Fathom Green coupe has been through a body-off restoration by Thorpe’s Body and Corvette Shop, who have restored over 40 L88 Corvettes and whose owner Tim Thorpe is a noted Bloomington Gold judge, restorer and preservation expert. In addition to its 427/430 HP L88 engine, M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed and G81 Positraction differential, the Last L88 is equipped with J56 special heavy duty brakes with J50 power assist, F41 suspension, transistorized ignition, Saddle leather interior and Soft Ray tinted glass. This exceptionally rare Corvette comes with complete owner history and is documented with the build sheet and a copy of the window sticker.
