2012 Kuwait Concours Judge Spotlight: Manvendra Singh – India

His Highness Rana Manvendra Singh belongs to the erstwhile royal family of Barwani in Madhya Pradesh, son of the Late Maharaja of Barwani. He did his schooling and college from Daly College and Christian College and went on to get an automotive marketing degree from Northwood University, U.S.A. An auto sport enthusiast, he became the first Indian to attended Jim Russell’s Racing Drivers School in Canada, at the age of 18, from where he graduated in 1971. In 1991, he attended well known College for Auto restoration – McPherson College, in Kansas U.S.A., completing an inter-term course in Automotive Restoration.

With a keen interest in automobiles from an early age, Manvendra Singh has been able to successfully meld his passionate hobby with work and started India’s first vintage and classic car restoration workshop in 1978. Today he is well known in his field and respected as an authority on vintage & Classic cars in India. For this he has featured on numerous television programs.

Manvendra Singh has written for various automobile magazines such as Indian Auto, Autocar India, Overdrive, Car & Bike, Auto India and also researched material and contributed articles to International Club magazines such as the Hispano-Suiza Society Newsletter, Rolls Royce and The Auburn/Cord/Dusenberg Club – of which he is a life member. International automotive historians regularly consult him for information on important marques which came to the country. He has co-authored a book titled ‘Automobiles of the Maharajas’ with Ms. Sharada Dwivedi.

He now represents Cartier in India as a Curator for Concours d’Elegence and has successfully completed two ‘Cartier Travel with Style Concours’ in 2008 and 2011.

The excitement is building in the collector car and auto enthusiast world with the upcoming Kuwait Concours d’Elegance taking place February 15th – 18th, 2012.
