Prominent biofuel expert calsl on others to follow ALMS’ example

A founding member of Advanced Biofuels USA recognizes the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón as the primary example of a global motorsports platform that promotes and advocates the use of advanced biofuels in competition.

As the world’s only major motorsports series to blend real-world automotive technologies and alternative energies, Bob Kozak – Senior Green Racing Editor and founding board member of Advanced Biofuels – praised the ALMS for its progressive stance and called on other racing organizations to follow suit in an opinion piece published today on AdvancedBiofuelsUSA.org.

Buttressing his arguments with demographic statistics from a Nielsen survey conducted for ALMS, in addition to the cost-effectiveness of this approach, Kozak focuses on the enthusiasm of the American Le Mans Series’ audience for new technologies as they make their public debuts.

For example, for ALMS fans…

• Average household income held from 2008 to 2010 at $120,000/year, and …
• Fans in the 25-34 age group and 18-34 age group, the “Money Demographics” doubled from 2008 to 2010.

The survey also found that ALMS fans wanted car manufacturers to be innovative and were willing to be early adopters.

• 90 percent said it was important/very important for car manufacturers to develop technology through racing, and…
• A majority (52 percent) were willing to pay premium for that technology.

ALMS regulations currently allow for five forms of alternative energy – E10, E85, sulfur-free diesel, isobutanol and hybrid technologies.

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will open the 2011 season at the 59th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida on Saturday, March 19. Visit the American Le Mans Series’ schedule page for information on tickets and area accommodations.
