DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The month of October is a busy time of the year in the Charlotte, N.C., area, when the spotlight of the racing world shines there. This year, GRAND-AM’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge will be part of the action.

As usual, teams in NASCAR’s national series continue their work as they approach the end of the season. Teams are gearing up for their home race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which hosts the fifth round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Saturday, Oct 16. Additionally, the second class of inductees for the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 13.

In the middle of all of that is the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Awards Banquet presented by SunTrust, which will be held this Saturday evening at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. GRAND-AM will honor the top three drivers and first-place teams and manufacturers in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in both the Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST) classes, as well as the MESCO Building For The Future Rookie of the Year and winners of other contingency awards, including the SunTrust Improve Your Position.

The cars of GS champs Charles Espenlaub and Charlie Putman and ST champs Lawson Aschenbach and David Thilenius will also be on exhibit, marking the first sports cars to be displayed at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Fans can see the cars Saturday throughout the day.
Visit GRAND-AM.com on Tuesday for a story on the Street Tuner champions, and follow GRAND-AM.com and @CT_Challenge on Twitter for more stories and information throughout the week.
