Aston Martin: A Weekend of GT4 Success

By Auto News Log • August 4th, 2010

Aston Martin’s customer GT4 programme continues to build on its previous success with two separate class wins last weekend at the 24 Hours of Spa and the six hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race at the Nürburgring.

AMR Jota Sport secured GT4 class honours in the Spa 24 Hours last weekend, as the British squad made its debut appearance as an Official Partner Team to Aston Martin Racing.

Changeable weather conditions, typical of the Belgian Grand Prix venue, also plagued the race but the drivers, three of which had no modern-day GT racing experience, coped well with everything thrown at them, including racing in damp conditions on slick tyres in the dead of night, while the team were faultless throughout.

The result marks a superb start to Jota’s partnership with Aston Martin Racing and a resounding success for ‘The Drivers Club’ as three of its members take home enormous winners’ trophies from one of motorsport’s toughest events.

Meanwhile, at the Nürburgring, Team Mathol Racing had a perfect six-hour race with their Vantage GT4 remaining dominant throughout. They crossed the line first in class and 26th overall from 186 qualifiers thus echoing their class win in the Nürburgring 24 hours back in May.
