1,000 Collector Cars to Be Offered at Auction October 10-12, 2013

Walworth, Wis. – Mecum Auctions has taken its record-setting auctions all across the country and continues to drop the hammer in new locations each year. This Oct. 10-12, Mecum will roll out the red carpet in Chicagoland offering more than 1,000 vehicles at a world-class venue with 100,000 square feet of pillar-free exhibit space – the Schaumburg Convention Center.

“The Schaumburg Convention Center has become one of Illinois’ paramount venues for events of this scale since it was finished in 2006,” commented Mecum President Dana Mecum. “The location of the property, the building’s amenities including the attached hotel along with the overall presentation of the location make it an ideal space for a three-day Mecum Auction of this magnitude.”

With over 1,000 vehicles expected, the auction roster already includes some outstanding consignments and high-profile collections including the “Hemi Under Glass Collection” four of the most famous wheel-standers in drag racing history. Best known for screaming down the track at 100 mph with noses to the sky and sparks flying from their wheelie bars as they skim on the pavement, the Hurst “Hemi Under Glass” Barracudas will serve as one of the event’s main attractions and a must-see for auction-goers.

With a location just 15 miles from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and less than 30 miles from the Loop, the Schaumburg Convention Center is a prime and convenient spot for buyers, sellers and spectators alike, and all are invited to join Mecum this Oct. 10-12 at Chicagoland’s only collector and classic car auction.

Doors to the Chicago Auction will open each day at 8 a.m. Portions of all three days will be broadcast live on Discovery’s Velocity Network, and as always, Mecum will present a live stream of the entire auction at www.mecum.com. Mecum’s website is updated daily with the latest consignments including detailed descriptions and photographs of the vehicles. To view the list, to consign a vehicle or to register as a bidder for the Chicago auction, visit www.mecum.com or call (262) 275-5050.
