Mecum Auctions 2012 Spring Classic Spotlight: 1968 Ford Mustang Pro Touring 427/600 HP, 6-Speed (Lot S311)

Dubbed “Extreme Bullitt”, this Pro Touring 1968 Ford Mustang was inspired by the star car of the most famous movie chase scene of all time. Dark Green paint, a plain-Jane grill, American Torque Thrust wheels and a slight nose-up attitude are all visual cues established by the original, but the car departs from there in its modern high performance drivetrain headlined by a hand built Roush 427/600 HP engine and 6-speed transmission. State of the art racing suspension and brakes provide Pro Touring-level handling, and the interior features new instruments and a modern sound system.

Mecum Auctions will celebrate its Silver anniversary at Dana Mecum’s 25th Original Spring Classic Auction. More than 2,100 vehicles will cross the auction block May 15-20, 2012, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Ind.
