2012 Kuwait Concours Judge Spotlight: Andrea Zagato – Italy

By Auto News Log • January 28th, 2012

Andrea Zagato is the third generation Zagato to head Coachwork Zagato since its founding in 1919. In his time, the firm has built solidly on its reputation for innovative styling that embodies advanced engineering.

Zagato today is a world renowned Atelier, as it is an expression of Italian excellence in the creation of exclusive bodyworks in extremely limited production runs—from 9 to 99 units. An atelier in the third millennium must be able to reconcile time-honored workshop expertise with state-of-the-art design and development technologies.

The company was established at the end of World War 1 by Ugo Zagato, putting aircraft industry construction techniques to use in the expanding market for passenger vehicles. Zagato’s cars were advanced in design and became synonymous with light weight and excellent aerodynamics. Many Zagato vehicles have the signature double-bubble roof that allowed clearance for racing helmets or heads, with minimal frontal area.

The excitement is building in the collector car and auto enthusiast world with the upcoming Kuwait Concours d’Elegance taking place February 15th – 18th, 2012.
